The short answer

AI-aware enterprises add AI to what they already do. AI-native enterprises redesign what they do around AI. The gap shows up in who does the work: in AI-aware teams, people do the work and AI assists; in AI-native teams, AI does the work and people supervise.

Where most enterprises actually are

Most teams are AI-aware. They have copilots, a few automations, and a ChatGPT subscription, but the underlying process is unchanged. That is a fine place to start and a bad place to stop.

How to move from aware to native

Start by measuring. Map a single high-volume workflow (lead routing, content production, reporting) and ask what it would look like if AI ran it end to end and a person only handled exceptions. Rebuild that one workflow. Then the next.

Measure before you build.
